CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country faced off with UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon on a 3K course inside of Witherle Woods. The Mariners claimed the head-to-head matchup with an overall team score of 26.
Junior Aubrey Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) was the top finisher for the Mariners, finishing second out of the 10 runners with a time of 14:42. First-Year Lillian Diversi (Gardiner, Maine) finished fourth with a time of 16:47, Fifth-Year Sarah Smith (Kirkland, Wash.) finished just behind in fifth (17:28) and sophomore Lillian Verrill (Pittsfield, Maine) placed sixth (17:55). Junior Katie Maciejewski (Greenland, N.H.) rounded out Maine Maritime's runners, placing ninth with a time of 19:50.
UMPI's Katelyn Osborne took the top spot, finishing the race with a time of 13:43.
The Mariners will return to action next Saturday, October 28 when they compete in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship, hosted by UMPI. Race time is set for 11:00 am.
