CASTINE, Maine - Maine Maritime Academy has earned the third seed in the East Division in the 2023 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Championship. The Mariners will face second-seeded Husson University on a neutral field. Top-seeded Lesley University earned the right to host the tournament, which will play out on the field at Minuteman High School in Lexington, Mass.

Husson defeated Maine Maritime 1-0 on Boucher Field at Husson back on September 27. Charlotte Messer scored the game's only goal. Husson outshot Maine Maritime 18-4 in that meeting, with Isa Thesing coming up with 14 saves in the loss.  The game marks the first postseason meeting between Husson and Maine Maritime since 2017, when Husson picked up a 3-1 win in Bangor. This will be the seventh meeting of the teams in the NAC postseason. Husson owns a 4-2 advantage over the Mariners in postseason play. Maine Maritime's most recent postseason win over the Eagles came back on Halloween in 2015, a 1-0 win in Castine during the NAC Quarterfinals.

The top four teams in each eight-team division qualified for the tournament. Quarterfinals and Semifinals will occur divisionally, at the site of each division's #1 seed. Lesley went undefeated in the East and SUNY Poly went 5-1 in the West to earn the top seeds in their divisions. SUNY Poly will host #2 VTSU Johnson, #3 SUNY Delhi, and #4 SUNY Morrisville in the West.

The divisional winners will meet for the championship game on Saturday, November 4. The championship will take place at the site of the West Divisional Winner, the time remains to be determined. The NAC Champion will move on to play in the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
There will be no admissions to attend the games at Minuteman High School. Fans are encouraged to bring chairs as seating is limited.
