NEWBURG, N.Y. – Maine Maritime women's lacrosse falls to Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.) 14-11 in a non-conference matchup on Thursday evening.

How it Happened: The game was closely matched in the first quarter, with each team knotted at four. In the second quarter, the Knights were able to outscore the Mariners 3-1 to take a two point lead going into the half.

The Knights started off the third quarter with three straight goals to continue to create separation from the Mariners. That quarter ended with the Knights taking an 11-8 lead. Maine Maritime started to gain some momentum in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late and the Knights claimed a 14-11 win.

Inside the Numbers:
- Hazel Stoddard (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) led the Mariners with four goals and two assists, along with 10 draw controls, five ground balls, and one caused turnover.
- Rebecca Caron (Naples, Maine) tallied three goals, two ground balls, and one caused turnover.
- Olivia Harriman (Orrington, Maine) added two goals, while Kirra Magaña (Miami, Fla,) and Amber Card (Bowdoin, Maine) each chipped in one goal.
- Karli Ferrucci scored five goals, while Victoria Ward scored four goals and dished out four assists for the Knights.
- Kelsey Melton (Great Falls, Va.) tallied ten saves for the Mariners, while Liz Petrellese recorded 11 saves for the Knights.

Up Next: Maine Maritime falls to 3-1 overall, while Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.) improves to 2-2 on the year. The Mariners return to action on Friday, March 17 at 7:00pm when they travel to Waterville, Maine to take on Thomas College.
