CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime men's lacrosse beat SUNY Canton 17-9 to wrap up the regular season and secure hosting rights for the NAC Championship next weekend.

How it Happened: After a slow first quarter, with the Mariners taking a 2-1 lead, Maine Maritime scored four consecutive goals to make the score 5-1. SUNY canton answered with three goals on their own to get within one, but
Jayden Wilson (Lewiston, Maine) found the back of the net for the Mariners at the end of the second quarter to take a 6-4 lead going into halftime.

Maine Maritime dominated the beginning of the second half, scoring eight unanswered goals to take a commanding 13-4 lead over the Kangaroos. There was a little spark by the Kangaroos in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late and the Mariners took a 17-9 victory.

Inside the Numbers:
- The Mariners were led by Wilson who scored five goals and dished out an assist along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Sam Nichol (Concord, N.H.) added four goals and an assist, while Alex Stevens (South Portland, Maine) chipped in three goals and one assist.
- Five other Mariners each had one goal.
- Alex Jacobs, Austin Mesler, Michael Newcomb, and Caeden Goodnough all had two goals for the Kangaroos.
- Garrett Ruszkowski (Saugus, Mass.) tallied 10 saves in 51 minutes for the Mariners, while Hayden Todd had 22 saves for the Kangaroos.
- Maine Maritime held a 69-31 advantage in shots and a 48-41 edge in ground balls over the Kangaroos.
