Wilson and Arnone Tab NAC Weekly Honors

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime's Jayden Wilson (Lewiston, Maine) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week, while Will Arnone (Barrington, R.I.) was named the NAC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Wilson helped lead the Mariners to a 2-0 week to wrap up regular season play, and preserve an undefeated record in conference play (8-0) with nine goals, six assists, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. In the team's 23-6 win over Thomas on Wednesday, Wilson tallied a game-high nine points on four goals and five assists, while scooping up a ground ball. In a big 17-9 Senior Day victory over SUNY Canton on Saturday, Wilson recorded a game-high five goals, to go along with one assist, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. In that game he also broke the MMA single-season record for goals (57) and points (94).
 
Arnone anchored the Mariner defense that played a big part of the team's 2-0 week and preserved an undefeated record in conference play (8-0), by scooping up 13 ground balls and causing three turnovers over the two games. Arnone scooped up six ground balls and caused a turnover in Maine Maritime's 23-6 win over Thomas College on Wednesday, helping tame the Terriers who entered the contest averaging 10.5 goals per game. On Saturday, Arnone scooped up a career-high seven ground balls and also caused two turnovers to help the team to a 17-9 win over SUNY Canton, holding the Roos well below their goals per game average (11.84) entering the matchup.
