PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Junior Ponce Saltysiak (Bar Harbor, Maine) claimed individual medalist honors and men's cross country placed third overall at the 2023 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Preview Meet hosted by the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened: Saltysiak ran an impressive 28:08.9 on the 8k course to claim the top spot in the 38-runner field. First-year Joey Valliere (Brunswick, Maine) put together a top-15 finish, placing 14th, with a time of 31:35.0.
 
First-year Logan Serpico (Lewes, Del.) finished 19th with a time of 32:55.9. Junior John Beres (Shoreline, Wash.) finished 24th with a time of 34:00.4 and first-year John Sigler (Newport, R.I.) rounded out the top-five finishers for the Mariners, placing 27th with a time of 35:49.7.
 
Inside the Numbers: The University of Maine at Farmington claimed the top spot with a team score of 24 and total time of 2:23:04, Husson placed second with a score of 57 and total time of 23:34:01, while the Mariners placed third with a team score of 84 and total time of 2:42:30. Saltysiak was the top finisher on the afternoon with UMF's Justin Castaldo finishing second with a time of 28:18.4, and Husson's David Hileman finishing third with a time of 28:36.4
