Women’s Soccer Wins First Conference Game of 2023

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Mariner women's soccer won their first conference game of 2023 on the road against Lyndon by a score of 3-1.
 
Goal #1 (MMA 1-0): Kirra Magaña scored the first Mariner goal in minute 11 where she was one on one and moved past the defender for the score. Delaney Ennis earned the assist.
 
Goal #2 (MMA 2-0): In minute 17 Kirra Magaña took about ten dribbles down the field past a couple defenders and then passed it up to Sierra Hoops who kicked the ball in for the score.
 
Goal #3 (MMA 3-0): Kirra Magaña got the Mariners third and her second goal of the night to take the demanding lead for the Mariners. Sophia Hernandez earned the assist, guiding the ball through to Magaña.
 
Goal #4 (Lyndon 3-1): After a quiet second half, Lyndon scored their solo goal in the 85th minute, scored by Kiara Mack and assisted by Riann Fortin.
 
Notes
  • Isa Thesing played the full 90 minutes for the Mariners in net, ending with one save.
  • Karly Cordwell played the full 90 for the hornets, finishing with 11 saves.
  • Taylor Webster also appeared for the full 90 minutes on field for the Mariners.
  • Lyndon had five different players playing for the game in its entirety.
  • Sierra Hoops and Kirra Magaña each led the Mariners in shots with eight a piece.
