BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's cross country placed eighth out of 12 teams at the 2023 Maine State Meet on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Husson University, at Saxl Park.
How it Happened: Junior
Ponce Saltysiak (Bar Harbor, Maine) put together an impressive top-25 finish on the 8k course, finishing 25th in the 128-runner field, with a time of 27:19.7. Sophomore
Cooper Parlee (Brewer, Maine) finished 74th with a time of 29:34.7.
First-year
Joey Valliere (Brunswick, Maine) finished 82nd with a time of 30:46.9, first-year
Logan Serpico (Lewes, Del.) finished 85th with a time of 31:00.9, while junior
John Beres (Shoreline, Wash.) placed 99th with a time of 32:28.1 to round out the top-five finishers for the Mariners.
Inside the Numbers: Bowdoin College claimed the top spot with a team score of 27 and total time of 2:10:06, Bates College finished second with a team score of 37 and total time of 2:11:11, and Colby College finished third with a team score of 87 and total time of 2:15:19.
Up Next: Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday, September 23 when they travel to Boston, Mass. to race in the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park. Race time is scheduled for 2:30pm.
