Cook-Sharp Leads Mariners at Maine State Meet

BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country placed ninth out of 10 teams at the 2023 Maine State Meet on Saturday morning, hosted by Husson University, at Saxl Park.

How it Happened: Fifth-year Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) placed 79th out of 107 runners, on the 6k course with a time of 28:52.1. Junior Aubrey Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) placed 87th, with a time of 30:53.2.

Sophomore Kylie Cantlon (Burke, Va.) finished 94th with a time of 33:17.2, while fifth-year Sarah Smith (Kirkland, Wash.) and first-year Lillian Diversi (West Gardiner, Maine) finished 96th and 97th respectively, to round out the top-five finishers for Maine Maritime, with times of 35:48.8 and 36:03.1.

Inside the Numbers: Bates College put together an impressive showing, claiming the top spot with a team score of 19 and total time of 1:53:20, Bowdoin College finished second with a team score of 70 and total time of 1:56:59, while Colby College finished third with a team score of 75 and total time of 1:57:30.

Up Next: Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday, September 23 when they travel to Boston, Mass. to race in the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park. Race time is scheduled for 1:30pm.
