Volleyball Falls to Clark University

LEWISTON, Maine – Maine Maritime volleyball loses their first game of the 2023 season to Clark University, 0-3.

Set #1
  • Maine Maritime had the first point of the set with a kill from Chloe Weeks.
  • The beginning of the match was back and forth play between the teams with one lead change and four ties for the first nine points for both teams.
  • MMA found themselves down by seven points (9-16) and fought back to give themselves a 21-18 lead. This included the Mariners scoring four straight points, their longest run of the match.
  • Three kills in a row from Chloe Weeks is what gave the Mariners points 19, 20, and 21 to help extend their lead.
  • Weeks earned another kill, assisted by Albritton, that gave the Mariners a 23-22 lead.
  • Clark University scored the final three points to win the set, 23-25.

  • MMA found themselves down early in this set before Chloe Weeks got a kill to get them on the scoreboard.
  • The Mariners biggest run was points 9,10, and 11 that had back to back kills from Ila Smith followed by a kill from Grace Jennings. All three kills were assisted by Katie Albritton.
  • Clark won the set 15-25.

  • The Mariners and Clark went back and forth to have an early tie of 2-2. The Mariners earned their first two points with a service error and kill by Ila Smith.
  • A kill by Chloe Weeks tied the score at 10 and then followed by a service error gave the Mariners their first lead of the set, 11-10.
  • After Clark scored the next few points, back to back blocks from the Mariners by Chloe Weeks and Ila Smith and Smith and Sydney Williams tied the set at 13.
  • A kill from Sydney Williams followed by an attack error gave Maine Maritime their next lead, 16-15.
  • With the Mariners down 17-18, they went on to score the next three points with a kill from Sophia Biggie and two kills from Weeks to give the Mariners their biggest lead of the set, 20-18.
  • Clark University won the final set 22-25.
