FARMINGTON, Maine– Maine Maritime academy women's basketball (14-4,9-0) defeated the University of Maine Farmington Beavers 69-46 on Tuesday night.

The Mariners had a hot start to the contest, outscoring the Beavers 18-4 in the first quarter. MMA continued to grow their lead, opening the second quarter with a six-point run off of buckets from
Jacquelin Castro,
Evelyn Dagan, and
Erianna Moore making the score 24-4. The Mariners grew their lead to 33-10 going into halftime.

The Mariners continued to be in control of the game for the second half and went on to secure the 23 point win.

Maria Barela led the way for the Mariners, ending the night with 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Moore also finished the night in double figures off of 11 points.
Sydney Briscoe scored nine and brought down nine rebounds. Thirteen Mariners scored in the contest.

The Mariners return home for their next contest on Friday, Feb. 2 against the University of Maine, Presque Isle at 7:30 pm.
