LEXINGTON, Mass. – The Maine Maritime Academy women's volleyball team completed a three-match, two-day road swing in the Bay State on Saturday with a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader victory by identical 3-0 scores over Lesley University here at Minuteman High School Gymnasium. The visiting Mariners improved to 9-8 on the season and 5-0 in the NAC East Division after sweeping the Lynx (0-12, 0-6 NAC-East) 25-5, 25-10, 25-6 and then 25-4, 25-7, 25-8.
In the opening match, Maine Maritime hit .473 while holding Lesley to a minus-.273 attack percentage. Senior
Grace Jennings recorded a career-best 13 service aces (three shy of breaking the school single-match record) to set the tone for an efficient offense. Sophomore
Sydney Williams smacked 13 kills on a .611 attack percentage, and senior
Katie Albritton directed the offense with 17 assists while sophomore
Ally Hadley had 12.
In the nightcap, MMA again held the Lynx attack to an attack percentage below .000 (-.240). Junior
Ila Smith led the Mariners with eight kills among 17 on the day. Hadley and Williams chipped in eight aces apiece, while Jennings added another seven. Albritton dished 19 assists. On defense, classmate
Sydney Rich had a season-high 11 digs.
Maine Maritime steps out of NAC competition on Tuesday (7 p.m.) at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
