Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany/Abington, Stuttgart High School) has been named the North Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player and Defensive Player of the Week, the NAC office announced on Monday.
Heinz also was a double winner back on Nov. 11. He has been named a NAC Defensive Player of the Week three times this season, including on Nov. 18.
In addition, he was chosen the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association Co-Player of the Week.
Heinz averaged a double-double with 25.0 points on 59.0 percent field goal shooting and 16.0 rebounds during MMA's 3-0 week versus NAC competition. He also led the Mariners with 22 assists and 11 blocked shots.
He recorded game highs of 32 points, 19 rebounds, seven assists and five blocked shots in a 85-68 win over VSU-Johnson. Then he had a game-high 21 points and led all playmakers with five assists to go along with eight rebounds against VSU-Lyndon, a 70-58 win. He capped his week by registering the 11th triple-double in NCAA Division III this season, and his first such-performance in two years, with game highs of 22 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists at Lesley University for an 82-56 win 82-56. Twenty-six of his 48 total rebounds came on the defensive end.
Heinz leads the NAC with 13.6 rebounds per game and is just one-tenth of a point off the scoring average lead at 20.0 ppg (VSU-Johnson's Matthew Carter averages 20.1). He also overtook first place in the NAC in blocked shots over the week's span (22 total, 2.0 per game).
