Mariners Extend Win Streak to Eight with Women's Basketball Victory at UMFK

Box Score FORT KENT, Maine--Senior Sydney Briscoe produced a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds as Maine Maritime Academy defeated host UMaine-Fort Kent, 70-59, in non-conference women's basketball action at the UMFK Sports Center on Ozzie Osgood Court on Friday evening. Maine Maritime has won eight games in a row to up its season's record to 15-3, while the Bengals fall even to 6-6 with their fourth-straight loss.

Maine Maritime Highlights
  • Briscoe made 6 of 8 field goal attempts and made all four of her free throw tries. 
  • Junior Jasmine Anderson came off the bench to pump in 15 points on 6-for-8 from the floor and 3-for-3 at the stripe. She also had seven rebounds.
  • Junior Evelyn Dagan and freshman Addison Forry added 12 and 11 points, respectively. The latter also pulled down nine rebounds.
UMFK Highlights
  • Karolyn Baptiste netted a game-high 25 points and Cece Bell chipped in 21.
How it Happened
  • The Mariners converted 18 of 19 free throws for a .947 shooting percentage, which is a season's best and third-best in MMA single-game history.
Beyond the Boxscore
  • Maine Maritime leads the all-time series 11-1, as tonight is believed to be the first time that MMA has played on UMFK's home floor.
  • UMaine-Fort Kent is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
