Maine Maritime Bounces the Bengals in 84-58 Non-NAC Rout

Senior co-captain Curt Heinz becomes the program's all-time assists leader

Box Score FORT KENT, Maine--Senior co-captain Curt Heinz made school history, sophomore Jack Banks scored a game-high 18 points off the bench and Maine Maritime Academy drained 12 three-pointers to drill host UMaine-Fort Kent, 84-58, in non-conference men's basketball action at the UMFK Sports Center on Ozzie Osgood Court on Friday evening. Maine Maritime has won seven games in a row to up its season's record to 10-5, while the Bengals fall to 7-10 overall with their first home loss in four starts.

  • Heinz (11 points, 12 rebounds for a game-high) had five assists to set the program record with 331 in a career.
  • Banks finished 7-for-13 from the field and he contributed five rebounds.

  • The Mariners jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead as Ramirez set the tone with a pair of treys in the first four minutes from the opening tip.
  • Hagar joined Ramirez with efficient shooting from the perimeter as MMA enjoyed a 34-17 halftime lead.
  • Maine Maritime shot 47.5 percent from the field (28-59), 48.0 percent from the arc (12-25) and 94.1 percent from the free throw line (16-17).
  • UMFK was held to a 34.5 clip in field goal shooting (19-55).
  • The Mariners outscored the Bengals 22-9 off turnovers.
