WATERVILLE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer team battled top-seeded Thomas College to a hard-fought 3-1 loss in the North Atlantic Conference semifinal on Saturday evening.
Thomas (12-7-1) struck first in the 15th minute to take a 1-0 lead, but Maine Maritime (7-5-5) quickly responded. Senior Ronnie Morgan found junior James Baur for the equalizer in the 23rd minute to even the match at 1-1.
The Terriers reclaimed the advantage just four minutes later, scoring the eventual game-winner in the 27th minute to carry a 2-1 edge into halftime.
The Mariners came out strong in the second half, putting a pair of shots on frame early and another in the 70th minute, but Thomas held firm defensively before adding an insurance goal with 15 seconds remaining to secure the 3-1 decision.
Baur led the Mariners with three shots, all on goal, while juniors Dillon Wilkinson, Hunter Crea, and Gabriel Toledo each added attempts on frame. Freshman Kole Wayman turned in another strong performance in net, recording eight saves. The Mariners forced Thomas to make five saves on the night.
Thomas finished with a 23-10 advantage in total shots and an 11-6 edge in shots on goal.
With the loss, Maine Maritime's season comes to an end. A special shout out to seniors Ronnie Morgan and John-John Dickenson, who capped off two of the most decorated careers in an MMA uniform. The duo combined for five NAC All-Conference honors, one Defensive Player of the Year award, and one College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team selection, with 2025 NAC postseason honors still to be announced.
