CASTINE, Maine — Maine Maritime dropped a 73-59 decision to Husson University in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action Friday night at Smith Gymnasium.
The Mariners (3-4, 3-2 NAC) were led by junior
Jack Banks, who finished with 19 points and seven assists. Sophomore
Marcus Schade added 15 points, while freshman
Aaron Pensel chipped in 11 for Maine Maritime.
Maine Maritime shot 24 of 57 from the field and 3 of 19 from three-point range, finishing 8 of 10 at the free-throw line. The Mariners were held to 15 points in the first half before responding with 44 points after the break.
Banks pulled down six rebounds to go along with his scoring output, while the Mariners totaled 30 rebounds and 12 assists as a team. MMA scored 38 points in the paint but was unable to overcome a slow start.
The Mariners host the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tipoff.
