Cox, Trout Claim Titles as Mariners Narrow Lead at the LEC Championships

Maine Maritime is in second place with 548.5 points to cut into ECSU's lead

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- On Day 3 of the 2025 Little East Conference Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships hosted at the Boston Sports Institute, Maine Maritime Academy narrowed Eastern Connecticut State University's lead in the men's standings on Saturday. Maine Maritime was led by senior Carson Trout and junior Oliver Cox who both chalked up their second individual titles this weekend. Trout won the 50-yard butterfly in 23.21 seconds after previously winning the 100-fly (50.35). And Cox took first place in 1-meter diving with 401.75 points after a win in 3m.

Sophomore John Driscoll chipped in a runner-up finish in the 100-backstroke in 54.23, which is tied for the second-fastest time in LEC meet history.

The Mariners also shined in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1 minute and 38.46 seconds for third place. The team consisted of Driscoll, junior Aidan Burke, senior Ryan Maher and Trout. The 800-free relay also placed third in 7:30.55 thanks to freshman Nathaniel Gibbons, senior Ponce Saltysiak, junior Jay Creegan and senior Aidan Walls.

Freshman Michael Ordonez ended up third in 1m diving with 344.80 points.

The four-day event concludes tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with prelims, followed by finals at 5:30 p.m.
