CASTINE--In making its home debut as an NCAA varsity program, the Maine Maritime Academy men's wrestling team hosted Norwich University at Smith Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. The established Cadets were able to come away with a 56-0 non-conference victory.

The Mariners were led by freshmen Gavin Ripley and Kyle Stickel who picked up falls at 141 and 174 pounds, respectively, in exhibition matches. Ripley pinned Aiden Morgan in 1 minute and 3 seconds, while Stickel did the same over Jon Neypes in 4:22.

Maine Maritime is scheduled to compete in its first-ever appearance at the NCAA Division III Men's Wrestling Northeast Regional Championships hosted by Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., on Saturday-Sunday, March 1-2.
