CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball program is excited to announce the addition of Noah Eckhart to its 2025 recruiting class — the first under head coach Cedric Gillette.
Eckhart, a 6-foot-5 guard from Tallahassee, Florida, is the sixth signee in this year's class. He played for head coach Daron Huff at Leon High School, where he averaged 10 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal per game during his senior season.
Eckhart helped lead the Lions to one of the most successful seasons in program history, finishing 20-8. Leon advanced to the Class 5A District 3 championship game and made its first appearance in the Class 5A state Elite Eight in 70 years.
For his performance, Eckhart was named second-team All-Big Bend and received his district's Hustle Player of the Year award.
Off the court, Eckhart enjoys fishing, golfing, and spending time with friends. He competed for AAU program Born to Win Puma and will major in International Business & Logistics at Maine Maritime.
Eckhart on choosing MMA:
"I chose MMA because it's a great school with a great environment. I want to thank my mom for all of the late nights she picked me up from the gym and all the money she spent on my career."
What They're Saying About Noah Eckhart
Cedric Gillette, Head Coach, Maine Maritime:
"Noah is your classic fullback-style big guard who can also play with finesse and really shoot it — think Kyle Lowry. What he accomplished at Leon High School this year was incredibly impressive. They went from five wins last season to a 20-win season and a deep playoff run. We're confident Noah will bring those winning habits to MMA. We first saw him play in Tallahassee and were immediately drawn to his toughness and physicality — and that was before we even saw him shoot. He verbally committed on campus in front of some of our current players, and that was a special moment. We're thrilled to welcome Noah to Castine."
Daron Huff, Head Coach, Leon High School:
"Noah Eckhart is a very determined young man on and off the court. His determination allows him to succeed in the classroom and while playing basketball. He will give his all in everything he does. This effort helped contribute to his team play on the court helping us make the elite eight. His hard work and determination will be missed. I know he will succeed in all his future endeavors."
