GREENWOOD, Ind.- Maine Maritime Men's Lacrosse junior Trey Marcil (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and senior Sam Nichol (Concord, N.H.) have been named to the 2024-2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Men's At-Large team. The CSC Academic All-District® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.
The minimum criteria includes at least a sophomore academically and athletically, a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average or above, and competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.
Marcil, a Marine Transportation Operations major, appeared in all 16 games for the Mariners, tallying 43 goals, including five man-up goals and two man-down goals, and dished out 39 assists to total 82 points this season. The attackman also scooped up 66 ground balls and caused 12 turnovers. The team captain earned North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Second-Team honors following the season.
Nichol, a Marine Systems Engineering major, started in all 16 games for the Mariners this season. In those 16 games, the senior midfielder recorded 49 goals and nine assists for a total of 58 points, helping lead the Mariners to their third North Atlantic Conference Championship in four years.
Nichol finished his career ranked second all-time in program history in points (238), third in goals (163), fifth in assists (75), and second in man-up goals (29). A two-time team captain and four-time All-Conference honoree, he was also named the 2025 NAC Senior Scholar-Athlete, the 2023–24 and 2024–25 Mariners Athletics Male Leader of the Year, and the 2024–25 Mariners Athletics Senior Scholar-Athlete.
Following the season, Nichol was selected for both the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West Senior All-Star Game and the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Senior North-South All-Star Game.
Both Marcil and Nicol were selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. NCAA and NAIA Men's At-Large Academic All-America® First-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
