CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy Volleyball Program announced the addition of alumna
Rachel Melampy '23 as an assistant coach on Monday.
Melampy, a standout player for the Mariners from 2018-22, won four-straight North Atlantic Conference Championships and made four-consecutive NCAA Tournament Appearances.

Jessany Petricevic said. "Rachel's passion for the game, championship-level experience and her ability to connect with student-athletes will be a tremendous asset to our program. Her energy and dedication fit perfectly with the family-like culture and high standards we have here at MMA, and I know our players will thrive under her guidance."
A 2022 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American and New England Women's Volleyball Association All-New England Second Team honoree, brings a hall of fame resume to the sideline with the goal of helping the Mariners win their 12th conference championship and fourth in the last five seasons.
"Maine Maritime Volleyball is an incredible program that helps shape young woman into becoming leaders," Melampy said. "I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back to the program that gave me so much."Â Â
Melampy joins the staff after winning three-straight NAC player of the year selections and ranking second all-time with 1,372 kills, first with 4.36 kills per set, second in career points with 1,523 and fourth in career digs with 899.
After graduation, Melampy signed with Lindblad Expeditions and sailed as deck hand for two years and also passed her 1,600 ton mates near coastal exam.Â
A 2023 graduate of Maine Maritime, Melampy earned her Bachelor of Science in vessel operations technology and a minor in business.
