CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against SUNY Cobleskill in its North Atlantic Conference opener on Saturday.
Maine Maritime (1-0-2) struck first when junior
Holden Nichols buried a shot from about 30 yards out into the top corner of the Cobleskill (2-3-1) net.
The Mariners held a 7-3 shot advantage in the first half, forcing the Fighting Tigers to make three saves. But Cobleskill answered quickly in the second half to even the score at 1-1.
In the final 45 minutes, Cobleskill outshot the Mariners 11-8, though MMA held a 15-14 edge in total shots and a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Ronnie Morgan finished with three shots and two shots on goal, while junior
Matthew Villeneuve added four shots and two on frame.
Junior
Reagan Moynihan got the start in net for the Mariners, recording one save in the first half, while freshman
Kole Wayman added three saves in the second half.
Maine Maritime hosts SUNY Delhi on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
