BOSTON, Mass. — The Maine Maritime Academy volleyball team swept Suffolk University and Bridgewater State University in straight sets Saturday in a tri-match hosted by Suffolk.
Maine Maritime (5-3) opened with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 win over Suffolk, hitting .277 as a team while holding the Rams to a .062 attack percentage.
Junior
Sydney Williams recorded a match-high 17 kills, while senior
Ila Smith added seven. Sophomore
Hannah Tate finished with four service aces, and junior
Bre Kerr had three blocks. Senior
Hunnie Zuber-Stephens dished out a match-high 30 assists, while Tate collected 16 digs.
In the finale, the Mariners hit .394 with 16 kills in the opening set on the way to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-18 sweep of Bridgewater State.
Williams tallied 15 kills to finish with 32 on the day, while junior
Ally Hadley added 14 and Smith posted eight. Freshman
Ayla Altman served a match-high four aces, and Zuber-Stephens handed out 32 assists to finish with 62 in the tri-match.
Tate led the defense with a match-high 15 digs and also added six assists, while Williams nearly posted a double-double with nine digs.
Maine Maritime returns home Saturday for a tri-match against Vermont State University Lyndon and Mount Saint Mary College beginning at noon.
