LONGMEADOW, Mass. — The Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer team rolled past Bay Path University 10-0 on Sunday in non-conference action to remain unbeaten on the year.
Maine Maritime (6-0) wasted no time getting on the board, as junior
Abby Wong scored 3:36 into the match for the eventual game-winner. Senior
Mayako Brown doubled the lead in the 14th minute to make it 2-0.
Junior
Piper Baumgarten added her first goal of the season late in the first half to give the Mariners a 3-0 advantage at the break.
Sophomore
Hadley Stoddard opened the second half with a goal assisted by junior
Sophia Hernandez, and Brown tallied her second of the match in the 51st minute to push the lead to 5-0.
Baumgarten struck again in the 54th minute for her second goal of the day, while sophomore
Caitlyn Lamb netted her first collegiate goal in the 65th minute.
Sophomore
Charlotte Manes added a brace with goals in the 78th and 86th minutes, the first off an assist from senior
Rebecca Simmons, who also scored in the 83rd minute.
The Mariners finished with a commanding 63-1 shot advantage, including 36 shots on goal. Bay Path tallied 26 saves in the loss.
Maine Maritime returns home Tuesday to host the University of Southern Maine at 7 p.m. at Ritchie Field.
