WATERVILLE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matchups Saturday, falling to the University of Wisconsin-Stout 3-0 and No. 17 Colby College 3-0 at the Colby Invitational.
UW-Stout (1-1) took the first two sets against MMA (3-2) by 25-11 scores before the Mariners battled in the final set, falling 25-20.
Junior
Ally Hadley led MMA with eight kills, while fellow junior
Sydney Williams added six and senior
Ila Smith finished with four. Senior
Hunnie Zuber-Stephens recorded 13 assists, and sophomore
Hannah Tate collected a team-high 11 digs. Hadley and Williams added eight digs apiece.
In Saturday's finale, Colby (4-0) swept the Mariners by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-12 to remain unbeaten. Williams led MMA with seven kills, while Smith added five and senior
Sophia Biggie contributed four. Zuber-Stephens tallied 14 assists, and Tate added another 11 digs.
Maine Maritime will look to get back in the win column Tuesday when it travels to face Bates College at 6 p.m.
