CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men's wrestling team returned to the mat on Friday hosting the University of Bridgeport for a dual meet falling 42-18.
Sophomore Trevor Llewelyn got the start for the Mariners as 133 falling in the first period by pin before sophomore
Gavin Ripley got MMA on the board at 149. Trailing early in the first period, Ripley picked up a reversal and managed to record a pin victory to give Maine Maritime six points.
Freshman
Nick Daniel wrestled 157 for the Mariners, falling by pin in the first round, while sophomore
Wyndham Freeman got the start at 165 also falling by pin in the second round.
Sophomore
Nikita Smirnov competed for Maine Maritime at 174 loosing by pin and sophomore
Andrew Morrow picked up a decision via forfeit at 184.
At 197, sophomore
Gregory Brunk dominated using the Mariners signature move "the bulldog" to record a first period pin.
Freshman
Wyatt Weaver concluded the Mariners showing on Friday falling in the first period by pin.
The Mariners return to the mat on Saturday when they travel to Providence, R.I. for the Johnson & Wales University Wildcat Open Invitational.
