DELHI, N.Y. — Maine Maritime Academy used a balanced offensive attack and stout defensive pressure to dominate SUNY Delhi, rolling to an 88-39 North Atlantic Conference victory Saturday afternoon.
The Mariners (11-5, 10-1 NAC) led from the outset and built a commanding advantage by halftime, ultimately outscoring the Broncos (3-15, 2-9 NAC) in every quarter to improve their conference standing. Maine Maritime shot 45.5 percent from the field and forced Delhi into a barrage of turnovers that translated into easy scoring opportunities.
Sophomore guard
Addison Forry led the Mariner attack with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, adding 11 rebounds for a double-double. Senior
Evelyn Dagan supported the effort with 17 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, connecting on four triples and contributing three rebounds. Senior
Jacquelin Castro provided a spark off the bench with 16 points, while junior
Hailey Blanchard chipped in with four points, five assists and nine rebounds.
Maine Maritime used its depth to wear down the Broncos, finishing with a 65-28 edge on the boards and cruising throughout the second half. The Mariners' defensive pressure limited Delhi to just 23.1 percent shooting for the game.
Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Colby College at 7 p.m.
