CASTINE, Maine — Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball couldn't overcome a second-quarter surge by University of Maine at Farmington and fell 70-58 on Saturday afternoon at Smith Gymnasium in the North Atlantic Conference Championship.
Maine Maritime (18-9, 16-2 NAC) kept the game within reach early but were outscored in the second quarter as Farmington (21-7, 15-3 NAC) created separation heading into halftime. The Mariners trimmed the deficit at points in the second half but was unable to complete the comeback.

Grace Huntwork led the Mariners with 10 points, shooting 4 of 9 from the field and connecting twice from beyond the arc. Sophomore
Addison Forry added nine points on 4-of-9 shooting, while senior Jaquelin Castro posted nine points to go along with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Evelyn Dagan contributed eight points, knocking down two 3-pointers, and junior
Hailey Blanchard added eight points and five rebounds.
Maine Maritime shot 36.7% from the floor and 30.4% from three-point range. The Mariners battled on the glass but struggled to slow Farmington's offensive rhythm during key stretches, particularly in the second quarter when the Beavers built their advantage.
