CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse team picked up a 14-5 home win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Saturday.
Maine Maritime (2-2) wasted little time getting on the board over Mass. Maritime (0-3) opening up a 7-0 lead after the opening quarter and leading 9-2 at halftime.
The Mariners closed the contest with five goals in the second half to the Buccaneers three.
Junior
Lillian Diversi impressed on the day finishing with a game-high five goals and adding two assists for seven points. Fellow Junior
Bella Scolaro added six assists and a hat trick finishing with a game-high nine points.
Senior
Rebecca Caron added two goals and three draw controls, while junior
Julia Wade posted two scores and an assist with three draw controls and an impressive six caused turnovers.
Additionally, sophomore
Caitlyn Lamb and freshman
Hayden Meffert got in on the scoring action with Meffert notching her first collegiate goal.
Freshman
Lauren Robinson and junior
Abby Wong each added an assist, while Wong finished with a game-high seven ground balls and pitched in four caused turnovers. Robinson also racked up six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Senior
Ella Bowes finished with five saves in cage allowing only five goals for the game.
The Mariners battle Salem State University on the road on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
