BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse team erased a four-goal second-quarter deficit and briefly pulled even before falling to Husson University, 12-9 in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference Championship.
Maine Maritime showed resilience throughout the contest after falling behind 3-1 after the opening quarter and trailing 6-2 midway through the second. The Mariners responded with a 5-1 run to close the half, highlighted by back-to-back goals from freshman

Bella Scolaro that tied the game at 7-7 with 1:20 remaining before halftime.

Lillian Diversi paced the Mariners offensively with three goals, all coming on free-position opportunities. Junior
Julia Wade added two goals on eight shots while also collecting four ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Scolaro finished with two goals and two assists, while Robinson contributed two goals and one assist in the comeback effort.
After Husson regained the lead early in the third quarter, Maine Maritime stayed within striking distance throughout the second half. Scolaro cut the deficit to 9-8 with a man-up goal late in the third quarter before Diversi scored her third free-position goal with 8:41 remaining in regulation to make it a one-goal game at 10-9. Husson, however, answered with two late goals to secure the victory.
The Mariners were effective on free-position attempts, converting 4-of-5 chances, and finished with 21 shots and 21 ground balls. Maine Maritime also totaled 10 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers.
Senior
Ella Bowes played all 60 minutes in goal for Maine Maritime and made seven saves. She also recorded five ground balls. Junior
Abby Wong contributed two caused turnovers and two ground balls defensively, while sophomore
Hadley Stoddard added two draw controls.
With the loss the Mariners 2026 season comes to an end.
