Men's basketball adds Weaver to 2026-27 recruiting class

CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy Men's Basketball program is excited to announce the addition of Immanuel "Manny" Weaver to its 2026 recruiting class, the second under Head Coach Cedric Gillette.

Weaver, a 6'3" guard from Dallas, Texas, joins the Mariners after an outstanding career at McKinney Christian Academy. A true floor general, Weaver averaged 12.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 steals per game as a senior while leading one of the top programs in the state. His ability to control the game on both ends of the floor helped McKinney Christian compile an incredible 77-3 record over his final two seasons, capturing two district championships and the 2026 TAPPS 4A State Championship. Weaver will also reunite with current Mariner Drew Hamilton, his former high school teammate, as the duo looks to continue their winning tradition together in Castine.

Throughout his high school career, Weaver established himself as one of the premier point guards in Texas. As a senior, he earned First Team All-State honors, was named District Offensive MVP, and was selected to the TABC All-State Team after previously earning Second Team All-State and First Team All-District honors as a junior. Weaver also rewrote the McKinney Christian record books, becoming the school's all-time assists leader in just two seasons while also setting the single-season assist record. He finished his career ranked among the top two players in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in assists per game.

Away from the court, Weaver enjoys watching movies. He chose Maine Maritime Academy because of the coaching staff and the culture surrounding the basketball program. Weaver immediately felt at home during his visit and believes MMA provides the ideal environment to continue developing as both a player and a person. He plans to major in International Business & Logistics at Maine Maritime Academy.

He drove baseline, took on a double team, and threw a cross court, no look, behind the back pass that hit his teammate directly in the hands for a wide open 3. That's Manny. He sees things that most players don't see, always puts his teammates in the best position to succeed, and does things no one else would even think to try.
