CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy Men's Basketball program is excited to announce the addition of Kaden Solis to its 2026 recruiting class, the second under Head Coach Cedric Gillette.

Solis, a 6'1" guard from Lake Jackson, Texas, joins the Mariners after a standout career at Brazoswood High School, where he was one of the premier guards in the state. As a senior, Solis averaged 15.4 points, 3.1 assists, 2.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game while earning First Team All-District 24-6A honors for the second consecutive season. He was also a two-time First Team All-Brazoria County selection, the Brazoria County Newcomer of the Year, a three-time Brazoswood Offensive Player of the Year, and was recognized as the Mr. Texas Basketball Player of the Week during his career.

Throughout his high school career, Solis helped lead his team to the 2023 TCAL State Championship while establishing himself as one of the most prolific scorers in school history. He eclipsed the 1,500-point milestone and finished his career ranked 11th in Texas 6A in made three-pointers, showcasing his ability to score at all three levels and impact games from beyond the arc.

Away from the court, Solis enjoys spending time fishing. He chose Maine Maritime Academy because of Head Coach Cedric Gillette's energy and enthusiasm for the program, as well as the outstanding academic opportunities and variety of degree programs offered at MMA. Solis plans to major in International Business & Logistics at Maine Maritime Academy.

What They're Saying About Kaden Solis

Cedric Gillette, Head Coach, Maine Maritime:
"Kaden is one of those players who immediately jumps off the screen when you watch him play. He's an elite shot-maker who can really stretch the floor, but what impressed me just as much was everything else he brings to the game. He has outstanding vision and passing ability, consistently creates great opportunities for his teammates, and is an elite on-ball defender who takes pride in making life difficult for opposing guards. It's rare to find a player who can impact winning in so many different ways.
When you look at his résumé, it speaks for itself. He's a 1,500-point scorer, a state champion, and has earned just about every individual honor you can imagine in one of the toughest basketball states in the country. Anytime you can bring in a player with that kind of experience and proven production, you're adding someone who understands what it takes to win.

Kaden is a tremendous young man with an incredibly bright future. From our very first conversations, it was obvious that he was someone who aligned with the culture we're building here at Maine Maritime. His competitive spirit, work ethic, and unselfish approach to the game make him a perfect fit for our program, and I can't wait to coach him over the next four years. I know our community is going to love the way he plays and competes every single day."

Kent Benedict, Head Coach, Brazoswood High School:
"Kaden Solis loves basketball. He lives in the gym. He puts in a ton of hours when no one is looking. Kaden is very coachable and is always wanting to get better. This guy is living his dream playing at the next level. We could not be more proud of him. 'Forever a Buc'"
