CASTINE, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy Men's Basketball program is excited to announce the addition of Jace Meader to its 2026 recruiting class, the second under Head Coach Cedric Gillette.

Meader, a 6'1" guard from Falmouth, Maine, joins the Mariners after spending time at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Prior to WPI, Meader enjoyed an outstanding high school career at Waltham High School in Massachusetts, where he established himself as one of the area's premier shooters. As a senior, he averaged 19.5 points per game while shooting an impressive 50% from the field and 48% from three-point range.

Throughout his high school career, Meader earned Dual County League All-Star honors and was selected to the Agganis All-Star Game. He also rewrote the Waltham High School record books, setting the single-season school record with 91 made three-pointers and tying the school record by knocking down nine three-pointers in a game on two separate occasions.

Away from the court, Meader enjoys lifting, golfing, hiking, and building with Legos. He chose Maine Maritime Academy because it provides the perfect combination of competitive basketball and outstanding academics, allowing him to continue playing the game he loves while pursuing a degree in one of the academy's highly respected engineering programs.

What They're Saying About Jace Meader

Cedric Gillette, Head Coach, Maine Maritime:
"We are really excited to add Jace to our program. He comes from a legendary Maine basketball family and is the grandson of Dick Meader, so basketball has obviously been a huge part of his life for a long time. It is really cool for us to be able to add a Meader to our program and keep that Maine basketball connection going.

Jace can flat out shoot the ball. He has deep range, he can get it off quick, and when he gets going he can completely change a game. His high school numbers speak for themselves. You don't shoot 48% from three and make 91 threes in a season by accident. He has put a ton of time into his game and has an unbelievable work ethic.

The more we got to know Jace, the more we liked him. He loves basketball, he loves being in the gym, and he is someone who is going to come in and work every day. We are really excited about what he can bring to our offense and really excited to have him as a Mariner."

Mike Wilder, Head Coach, Waltham High School:
"Jace Meader is beyond a hard working and focused player, that's not cliche, his attention to details is high! He shoots the 3 pointer with ease and at a high percentage while not turning the ball over on offense. A gritty kid that literally lives in the gym, he won't be outworked. Also, a very high basketball IQ and a phenomenal servant leader!"
