CASTINE, Maine — Maine Maritime Academy football scored twice in the fourth quarter but could not overcome an early deficit, falling to Curry 34-14 on Saturday at Ritchie Field for homecoming.
Maine Maritime freshman quarterback
Harris Stone completed 19 of 30 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior
Auston Harris provided both Maine Maritime touchdowns, finishing with seven receptions for 68 yards and 15 carries for 55 yards. His first touchdown came on an 8-yard pass from Stone with 12:33 remaining in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to 27-7.
Harris added his second touchdown with 1:16 remaining, hauling in a 9-yard pass from Stone to cap a five-play, 45-yard drive. Freshman
RJ Foxx converted the extra point to make it 34-14.
Senior
Ty Regis led the Mariners with three receptions for 85 yards, including a 37-yard catch. Sophomore
Jack Austin added eight receptions for 53 yards and rushed four times for nine yards. Freshman
Tyler Durgan contributed three carries for 20 yards.
Defensively, junior
Matt Gagin and sophomore
Anthony Mazza Jr. each recorded 10 tackles, while sophomore
Theo Blanke also finished with 10 tackles. Junior
Lucas Houghton added eight tackles, and sophomore
Connor Cuba recorded seven tackles. Freshman
Dominic St. John intercepted a pass and returned it 15 yards.
Maine Maritime finished with 296 yards of total offense, including 213 passing yards and 83 rushing yards. The Mariners converted 19 of 30 passes and held a 31:24 advantage in time of possession.
Additionally, at halftime the Mariners honored the jersey of Maine Maritime football legend Rob Marchitello who had his No. 2 jersey honored on the Ritchie Field press box.
The Mariners return to action on Saturday on the road against Nichols College with kickoff schedule for 2 p.m.
