The athletic director that brought women's lacrosse to Castine, Steve Peed served as the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach from 2019 through the 2022 season before stepping back into Assistant Coach position in January 2023 and then returning to the helm in 2024. Peed has coached 10 All-North Atlantic Conference (NAC) selections, one NAC Player of the Year, recruited two consecutive All-NAC Rookies of the Year, and produced one NAC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year.Â
2024
The 2024 Mariners reset eight team records including goals in a season (230), assists in a season (122), and points in a season (352). The Mariners finished 30th in Division III in points per game.  Maine Maritime recorded a team game record of 35 points scoring 21 goals with 14 assists in a matchup with Farmington. Stoddard became the first Mariner to tally 100 points in a season. She reset four individual season records and four individual game records on her way to becoming the NAC’s Co-Player of the Year. Aubrey Mitchell was named the NAC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. Stoddard was an All-NAC First Team selection along with first-year attack, Lilly Diversi. Mitchell as an All-NAC Second Team selection along with first-year attack, Bella Scolaro.
2022
Peed’s team defied expectations. Picked to finish sixth in the NAC preseason poll, Maine Maritime advanced to the NAC Championship game. Without any seniors and only three players on the roster that had ever played a game together, the squad posted eight wins, the most in the six full seasons of lacrosse at Maine Maritime at that time. The team picked up the first postseason win in program history, defeating Cazenovia College in the NAC semifinals. The 2022 Mariners produced the NAC Rookie of the Year in First-Team All-NAC selection, Hazel Stoddard. Stoddard finished the regular season fifth in NCAA in Division III in goals and sixth in goals per game. She was one of six all-league nods with the Mariners landing three on the All-NAC First Team and three on the All-NAC Second Team. One of the first team selections and one of the second team selections had never touched a lacrosse stick prior to the season.
2021
The academic calendar featured two training cruises to make up for the missed cruise in 2021, ending the academic year in April. The team did not compete in any intercollegiate contests.
2020
Peed took over a young, inexperienced team that fell to St. Joseph’s (Maine), Massachusetts Maritime and SUNY-Maritime before the COVID-19 pandemic halted play.
