Mark Moran

Mark Moran has served as an assistant coach of the Maine Maritime Academy Women's Volleyball program since 2016. 

CAREER AT A GLANCE:

  • During his time on the sideline with the Mariners, Moran has helped the program win seven North Atlantic Conference Championships and make seven NCAA Tournament Appearances.
  • Moran worked with one American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American – Rachel Melampy (2022).
  • Moran assisted with one American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region selection – Rachel Melampy (2022).
  • One New England Women’s Volleyball Association All-New England Recipient was guided by Moran – Rachel Melampy (2022).
  • Moran has worked with seven conference player of the year honorees – Gillian O’Neal (2016), Alexa Cacacie (2017), Sydney Adams (2018), Rachel Melampy (2019, 2021 & 2022), Sydney Williams (2024).
  • Moran has coached seven conference rookie of the year recipients – Sydney Adams (2016), Jessica D’Auria (2017), Rachel Melampy (2018), Katie Albritton (2021), Ila Smith (2022), Sydney Williams (2023), Hannah Tate (2024).
  • Multiple conference defensive player of the year selections have been coached by Moran – Maria Perez (2016, 2017 & 2018).
  • Moran has coached beside three conference coaches of the year – Tricia Carver (2016, 2017 & 2022).
  • Moran has helped guide 36 all-conference players.
COACHING TIMELINE: 
  • 2010-14: Maine Juniors (Club Couch)
  • 2014-16: Husson University (Assistant Coach)
  • 2016-Present: Maine Maritime Academy (Assistant Coach)
    • Served as Interim head coach during the Spring of 2025

ATHLETIC CAREER: 
  • As a player, Moran played men’s collegiate volleyball at St. Anslem College, Providence College and the University of Maine in the New England Collegiate Volleyball League.
  • During his three seasons at the University of Maine, Moran reached the national club tournament three times.

PERSONAL: 
  • Moran currently resides in Hampden, Maine.
  • Moran earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maine.
