Meet Coach Carver
Tricia Carver enters her eleventh season at the helm of the Mariners. In 2021 Carver's Mariners posted a 21-4 overall record and an unblemished 8-0 record in conference play. Carver led Maine Maritime to their sixth consecutive NAC Championship and sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
In her ten seasons with MMA, the Mariners have posted an 180-82 overall record and an impressive 57-3 record in conference play.
At Maine Maritime Academy, Carver also serves as the Associate Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator, and Director of Compliance. She is currently CAP II certified and participated in a trip to Colorado Springs at the Olympic Training Facility for USAV's 2016 High Performance Coaches' Clinic. Carver started volleyball summer camps in the summer of 2016. She is working in several communities to run camps and clinics to improve skills. She hopes to foster a love of the game and an appreciation for the learning process as well as empower young women mentally and physically.
During the 2020-21 academic year, Carver provided key leadership in the development of MMA's newly forming Black Student-Athlete Alliance. She is also currently serving on the Core Leadership Team as MMA moves through NASPA's Culture of Respect Collaborative -- an ambitious two-year program that brings together institutions of higher education who are dedicated to ending campus sexual violence and guides them through a rigorous process of self-assessment and targeted organizational change.
Carver is a proud member of Women Leaders in College Sports and was selected to attend their 2015 Women's Leadership Symposium in Baltimore, Maryland as well as their Institute for Administrative Advancement in 2021. Under her direction, Maine Maritime Athletics launched the inCommand Leadership initiative in the fall of 2015, a program that includes a One Team, One Voice Women's Retreat for all Maine Maritime female student-athletes, as well as team-bonding and leadership programming for all athletes, first-year through graduation.
Before coming to Maine Maritime Academy, Carver coached basketball and softball at the high school and middle school level. Carver also taught Spanish for three years and was a Children and Youth Ministry Coordinator from 2008 to 2013.
Carver played volleyball at the University of Maine, where she majored in Secondary Education and Spanish. She received her Master's Degree at the Bangor Theological Seminary.
