In addition to his coaching duties, Melville also serves as the assistant director of athletic communications. In 2022, the Mariners became the first team in the NAC to be deemed a Purple Heart Team and one of the first in NCAA across all three divisions, after hosting their inaugural Purple Heart Game on April 20, 2022.

From 2018-19, Melville was the head coach at Vermont State University Lyndon in 2018-2019. Working with only 17 athletes on his roster, he led the Hornets to a 3-3 season in North Atlantic Conference play, including a 13-7 win over Maine Maritime in Castine. He mentored one New England Intercollegeiate Lacrosse Assocation East-West All-Star Game selection along with the NAC men's lacrosse senior scholar athlete of the year and one NAC all-conference recipient.

Prior to Lyndon, Melville served as a graduate assistant at Iowa Lakes Community College assisting with department financial and operational functions, providing social media content and supervising college housing.

Melville began his coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Maine at Farmington for two season before working as an assistant boys' lacrosse coach at Mt. Blue High School.

A 2014 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington, Melville earned a Bachelor of Arts in outdoor recreation business administration. At Farmington, Melville was a Dean's List student and a three-year member of the men's lacrosse program, also serving on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and later the recreation coordinator for UMF's Upward Bound Program. In 2018, Melville earned his Masters of Sports Leadership with a concentration in collegiate athletics administration from Northeastern University.
