MMA Women Run In NAC Cross Country Championships

Castine, Maine – The Lyndon College men won their third consecutive men's cross country championship while the University of Maine at Farmington Women's Cross Country team won their fourth NAC cross country title in a row on Saturday in frigid, wet weather at Maine Maritime Academy.

 

Men's 8,000 meter: Lyndon College took home the team title with a team score of 22, and had six of the top eight runners in the meet. Taking home the medalist honors in the race was Maine Maritime's Matthew Methot (Portland, ME) with a time of 26:14.62. Methot earned the NAC Runner of the Year honors with the victory. Finishing second in the race was Lyndon's Joshua Grant (Nashua, NH) in a time of 26:46.35. Lyndon's Michael Farmer (Colchester, VT) placed third while teammate Kenedi Hall (Hartland, VT) placed fourth and won the NAC Rookie of the Year honor with his time of 27:25.96. Castleton's Isaac French (St. Albans, VT) rounded out the top five with a time of 27:53.40.

 

Women's 5,000 meter: The University of Maine at Farmington won the women's title with a team score of 41. The Beaver women placed two runners in the top five and edged out Lyndon by 11 points. Earning the Runner of the Year and the Rookie of the Year honors was Husson's Angela Stauble (Amherst, NH), in a time of 19:03.89. Castleton runners Maggie Klein (Castleton, VT) and Amber Ruscoe (Newtown, CT) finished second and third while Farmington's Salena Sykes (Island Pond, VT) and Caitlin Miller (Pepperall, MA) rounded out the top five.

Emily Fanning (New Boston, NH) was the top MMA runner with a time of 23:02.79. The Lady Mariners placed 7th in the team competition.
