WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's lacrosse team got
ready for this Saturday's big home game with sixth-ranked
Connecticut College with a 19-3 non-conference victory over Maine
Maritime Academy on Tuesday night at Bill Alfond Field.
The Mules improve to 8-5 overall and will host the unbeaten Camels
at 1 p.m. Saturday. Maine Maritime falls to 6-5 on the season.
Whit McCarthy (Darien, Conn.) had three goals and one assist,
while Scott Margolis (New York, N.Y.) also had four points with two
goals and two assists. Keith Fairbrother (Madison, N.J.) finished
with three goals, Greg McKillop (Washington, D.C.) had two goals
and one assist, and Ian Deveau (Portsmouth, R.I.) had one goal and
two assists for the Mules. Mark Squicciarino (Titusville, N.J.) and
Jonathan McIvor (Sudbury, Mass.) both had two goals for the
winners.
Colby led 10-0 after the first period and held the Mariners to
just three shots for the entire first half. The Mules had 51 shots
in the game and won 21-of-25 face-off attempts. Craig Bunker
(Topsfield, Mass.), the Division III leader in face-off percentage,
was 6-for-6 and had six groundballs before taking most of the game
off. Bjorn Knutson (Bloomington, Minn.) took over and won 12 of his
13 face-off attempts and had 11 groundballs.
Christopher Keiley (Holliston, Mass.), Andrew DiSalvo
(Glastonbury, Conn.), and Tom Houle (Manchester,
N.H.) had goals for the Mariners.
