BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Led by a strong performance by
first-year Colleen Ahern (Salem, Conn.), the University
of New England women's cross country team placed second at its own
invitational Saturday morning at Rotary Park.
 The University of Southern Maine came away with team honors,
posting a score of 42 to edge the Nor'easters (55). The University
of Maine Farmington finished third with 77 total points while the
Lady Mariners from MMA finsihed 7th out of the 11 teams. Angela
Stauble of Husson University was the individual winner with a
5,110-meter time of 21:14.
 Casey
McCloskey (Howland, ME) was the top MMA finisher with a time of
25:33 while Laurel
Evanofski (Contoocook, NH) finished at 26:45.
Four other MMA runners finsihed within five seconds of one
another. Samantha
Deplanche (Dover, NH) led that pack with a time of 27:46 while
Brittany
Kenyon (Harpswell, ME), Courtney
Dufour (Augusta, ME), and Andi Flannery (Machias, ME) finished
seconds later. Blaire
Fontaine (Cheshire, CT) completed the race in 33:33.
