FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at
Farmington women's cross country team placed five runners in the
top 10 to win the UMF Invitational today at Mt. Blue High
School.
The Beavers scored 30 points to edge out the
University of New England (39 points). Husson University (62), St.
Joseph's College (100), Unity College (161), Maine Maritime (169)
and Newbury College (169) rounded out the team scoring.
Husson's Angela Stauble (Amherst, N.H.) captured
the individual victory in the 4K race. Stauble was the lone runner
to finish in under 16 minutes at 15:52.03.
Stauble was followed by UNE's Kellie Hackett
(Vernon, N.J.) at 16:18.26 and the Farmington duo of Melani St.
Pierre (Charlestown, N.H.) at 16:26.51 and Caitlin Miller
(Pepperell, Mass.) at 16:41.61.
Maine Maritime's Casey
McCloskey (Howland, ME) was the top MMA runner and finished
29th overall with a time of 18:52.11. Laurel Evanofski finished in
42 nd place while Samantha
Deplanche (Dover, NH) placed 50th. Samantha Goda
(Eliot, ME) finished in 60th place while Blaire
Fontaine (Cheshire, CT) finished in 63rd place rounding out the
runners for MMA who as a team finished with 169 points.
