Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. –Benjamin Russell (Farmington, Maine) scored the game's only goal to lift Maine Maritime to a 1-0 win at Colby-Sawyer in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Saturday afternoon. The Mariners improved to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in conference action. The Chargers fell to 3-8-1 overall and to 2-3 in NAC play.
Russell connected on his second tally of the season after ripping a shot from 25 yards out that snuck just under the crossbar at 38:20.
The game was evenly played throughout with Colby-Sawyer holding a slight edge in shots 12-11, while the Mariners had a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior William Trace Lacour (Charlottesville, Va.) made five saves en route to the clean sheet for Maine Maritime. Colby-Sawyer keeper Nick Austin (Westerly, R.I.) stopped six shots in the loss.
Colby-Sawyer plays at Elms tomorrow at 4:00 pm, while the Mariners host Maine-Presque Isle at 2:00 pm tomorrow.
