WORCESTER, Mass. – Jeffrey Wasson scored six goals and tacked on an assist to lead Clark University in a 15-3 thumping of Maine Maritime Academy. The Cougars (3-2) ripped open a 7-0 lead before the Mariners (0-3) finally got on the scoreboard.

Wasson scored in each quarter and accounted for two of Clark's four extra-man goals in the contest. He tallied his last marker on the extra man with 3:06 left in the game. It was the fourth time Clark cashed in on one of the Mariners' eight penalties. Wasson was one of four multiple goal scorers for Clark. Nick Figliola scored four goals, while Chris Johnson and Graham Werner each scored a pair.

Maine Maritime saw three different players score. Andrew DiSalvo (Glastonbury, Conn.) got MMA on the board with an extra-man goal midway through the second quarter. He assisted Tom Houle's (Manchester, N.H.) goal in the third quarter. Brian Corain (Berwick, Maine) scored an EMO goal in the fourth quarter to round out the Mariners' offense.

Clark dominated possession controlling 17-of-21 faceoffs and doubling up and then some with a 44-21 advantage in ground balls. The ball control resulted in a 38-17 advantage in shots. Gavin Cote (Arundel, Maine) turned away 11 of Clark's advances.

The Mariners open North Atlantic Conference play when they host New England College on Saturday.
