Box Score

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — David Clough's (Mt. Vernon, Maine) goal at 68:53 mark of the second half proved to be the game-winner as Maine Maritime Academy defeated Lyndon 1-0 in North Atlantic Conference men's soccer action.

After a scoreless first half of play, Clough ran onto a centering pass from teammate Benjamin Russell (Farmington, Maine) and managed to punch a shot through a maze of Hornet defenders and into the back of the net behind goalkeeper Jason Gray.

From there, the Mariner defense made the tally stand, blocking several shots down the stretch to preserve the shutout.

Maine Maritime goalie William Trace Lacour (Charlottesville, Va.) made one save in the game while Gray was called upon to stop seven shots in the contest. The Mariners (4-4, 2-1) held a 14-5 advantage in shots and had three corner kicks and Lyndon (2-7, 1-2) had two.

The Mariners return to action tomorrow at Johnson State.
