Mariners Fall to Eagles

BANGOR, Maine -- Maine Maritime lost a 13-6 decision to Husson in a North Atlantic Conference lacrosse game Wednesday. The Eagles improved to 5-7 overall, 5-2 NAC while the Mariners fell to 4-8, 4-3.

Vinny Visconti gave the Eagles an early 1-0 lead before Alex Hermes matched it two minutes later to even the game at 1-1. Husson struck for three straight scores but Maine Maritime netted the final two scores of the quarter, by Hermes and Tim Grant, to make 4-3 after one.

The Eagles scored three unanswered to lead 7-3 at halftime.

Nicholas Betti opened the third with a pair of scores, five seconds apart, to get MMA within two, 7-5. Husson responded with three straight to end the third ahead 10-5.

Nick Snelling found Hermes to open the fourth before the Eagles finished the game with three unanswered scores.

John Hooper picked up the win with 10 saves in goal and James Wilgus took the loss despite 14 saves.

The Mariners finish the regular season hosting Maine-Farmington Saturday at 7 p.m.
