Box Score FORT KENT, Maine -- Maine Maritime gave Maine-Fort Kent one of its toughest challenges of season before falling 2-0 in a non-conference men's soccer game Sunday. The Mariners (2-2-1) allowed only two goals against UMFK (7-0-2), which entered the game averaging 5.8 goals per game.
Kennard Brown netted the game's first goal in the 12th minute and later found Justin Soontiens for an insurance goal in the 46th minute.
Jonathan Reeks fired one of the Mariners two shots on goal in the 33rd minute and Jay Madison's shot in the 60th minute was on target but stopped by Jamie Cleland.
Maine Maritime keeper Jesse Perkins stopped a career-high 10 shots.
The Mariners open North Atlantic Conference Wednesday hosting Husson at 5 p.m.
