Mariners, Eagles End in a Draw

CASTINE, Maine -- Nothing was decided after 110 minutes of men's soccer Wednesday as Maine Maritime and Husson University played to a 0-0 draw in double overtime. Both the Mariners and Eagles had scoring chances in overtime but couldn't convert in the North Atlantic Conference opener for both teams. Maine Maritime moved to 2-3-2 overall, 0-0-1 NAC, while Husson sits at 0-4-2, 0-0-1.

The Mariners had several quality shots in the final seconds of regulation and into overtime. Kyle Haslam fired a shot wide with 24 seconds left in regulation and the match went into overtime deadlocked at 0-0.

Jay Madison sent a shot wide in the first overtime and had a second shot saved by Brian Potter in the 2nd minute of the first overtime. Matt Leblanc and David Clough both had shots sail wide in the first overtime.

The Eagles had one look in overtime when Cooper Antone send a shot towards the goal but Jesse Perkins made a diving save to keep the game even.

Maine Maritime had 11 shots in the game, three on goal, while the Eagles fired off nine shots with four on goal. Potter finished with three save and Perkins ended the night with four stops.

The Mariners return to action Tuesday hosting Thomas at 5 p.m.
