Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Men's soccer celebrated their seniors with a 6-1 victory over Green Mountain on Sunday afternoon.
The Mariners jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior Gabriel Warren (Edgecomb, Maine) found the back of the net past Eagle keeper Griffin Shelor in the 25th minute.
Just minutes after entering the game Tristan Richards (Greenville, Maine) capitalized on a cross from Ike Doiron (Wilton, Maine) to make it 2-0 in favor of Maine Maritime in the 35th minute.
Henry Hersey (Greenville, Maine) added his first career goal late in the first half at the 43rd minute to extend the Mariner lead to 3-0, on a breakaway down the middle.
Warren picked up his second goal of the game, and seventh of the season, when he shot a ball that snuck between the legs of Shelor.
Jonathan Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) picked up his 11th goal of the season when he broke away to beat Shelor and found the back of the net, to give the Mariners a 5-0 lead.
The Mariners extended their lead to 6-0 a few minutes later when Christopher Gilman (Old Town, Maine) grabbed his first goal of the year on a pass from Hersey.
The Eagles squashed Maine Maritime's shutout bid when Jordan Manikas beat Marshall Spear (Rockport, Maine) to make it 6-1.
Spear ended the afternoon with no saves, while Shelor stopped five shots.
In a ceremony prior to the game the Mariners honored their five seniors; David Clough (Mt. Vernon, Maine), David Lord (Kenduskeag, Maine), Jay Madison (Rockledge, Maine), Evan Turmenne (Brunswick, Maine), and Gabe Warren.

The Mariners close out the regular season with an overall record of 8-7-1, and a 5-3-1 record in the North Atlantic Conference.
